Department Intership

The Department of Healthcare Industry Technology Development and Management strives to provide a well-rounded internship program with a balanced education of academia and industry for our students. The internship program is designed with the following three phases:

Phase I: Orientation and Matching

Before our students start the internship program, the department makes sure our students have all the information they need. The department coordinates meetings and event for our industry partners and students. With our facilitating, our students can have first-hand information about internship opportunities offered by our industry partners before becoming a student intern.

Phases II: Advising and Consulting

While our students have decided to participate in the internship program, they have all the departmental support at their expense. Student interns have department faculty members assigned as their internship mentors. Internship mentors are obligated to visit student interns and our industry partners regularly. To better the internship experience for both our students and industry partners, the department has assembled an Internship Affairs Committee to oversee and mediate the program.

Phase III: Career Planning

To make sure our students have an authentic learning experience, our industry partners’ feedback matters. During the internship, the department invites our industry partners to give our student interns a midterm and final performance evaluation. Based on the evaluation, the department continues to assist our students in improving their knowledge, skillsets, and professionalism in order to meet industry’s demand nowadays. Upon the closure of student’s internship, the department strongly encourages our students and industry partners to consider extending this internship into a formal career possibility.

In addition to our internship program mechanism, to provide the best care for our students and industry partners, the department requires legal-binding internship document before starting the internship program. Moreover, the department incorporates different government grants to support our student interns with a comprehensive accident insurance policy. The department has invested all these efforts with one goal in mind - a satisfactory internship education for both our students and industry partners.
