Short Bio
Dr. Max Y. C. Lo is a professor at the Department of Healthcare Industry Technology Development and Management at the National Chin-Yi University of Technology (NCUT) in Taiwan. Dr. Lo earned his second doctoral degree in Tourism Development at National Maejo University, Thailand, and his first doctoral degree in Bilingual Education at the Texas A&M University – Kingsville, U.S.A. His primary expertise lies in tourism studies, cross-cultural studies, and fitness training. His work illuminates the intricacies of factors that influence the tourism industry, specifically in the areas of community-based tourism and sports and wellness tourism. For several years, Dr. Lo has been involved in tourism-related examination committees and quality assurance committees at the government level, as well as different roles in local community development. Academically, he has published his research in international-refereed journals, and has been invited extensively and passionately dedicated himself to tourism-related guest speeches, lectures, training, and workshops both domestically and internationally. Dr. Lo has previously served in the position of Head of International Education and Exchange in the Office of International Affairs at the university level. Through his involvement with the internationalizing of higher education, he seeks to link teaching, learning, research, and educational policy to target the very issues directly addressed in his vision of internationalizing higher education. At the college level, he served as a Special Assistant to the Dean of the College of Management. This professional experience in overseeing and managing college and university affairs allows him to further extend his expertise in an applicable, practical, and more importantly, international perspective. In 2012, Dr. LO was awarded a visiting fellowship by National Maejo University, Thailand. At his university, Dr. LO is a recipient of the 2018 Research & Development Award and the 2022 Teaching Excellence Award.
